The Heart of the Home

Hey friends! Can I just say, WOW at the fact that this is my second blog post this week? I mean... who is this girl? I used to put the blog on the backburner, especially with having three kids to keep up with everyday, but I made a decision to start becoming more proactive with my blog posts. With that being said, I am FINALLY getting around to this very meaningful, and hopefully helpful, entry. I took a lot of time and intention about writing this, so I hope it is read that way.

Most people say the kitchen is the heart of the home, but I'd disagree. I'd say the table is the heart. It is the place where we come together at the end of each day, and no matter where we've been, we come back to this place. It is a place where we laugh, cry, and sometimes fight or argue. It is where homework is done, where stomachs are filled, and memories are made. It's not perfect, but it's ours.

I love everything about my farmhouse table! I love that it was custom-built for our family's needs and wants. I love that it reflects my style as a wife and mother. I love that even though our house isn't the biggest, it fits the space perfectly and accommodates many, many little bottoms (room for a few more kids? lol) What I love the most about our family table is, like us, it is imperfect. It has little spots, cracks, blemishes here and there, but I think that is what makes it something special. The imperfectness is something to be admired.
Because our table was custom-built, I cannot link the exact table in this post. I am sharing a few similar items, but if you are a Chattanooga local and are interested in supporting a small business and having someone build you a custom table for YOUR family, I can give you the contact information for the man who built ours.

If you've been following for a while, you probably know that I like purchasing items for my home that are multi-purpose because I do not have the budget nor the energy to buy completely new decor every time my creativity arouses me to "change things up." I love this simple tablescape (thats a word right? tablescape?) because I can pretty much keep it as is throughout the entire year. Eucalyptus is not for just one season, just ask Joanna Gaines. I picked up these mini eucalyptus wreaths at the target dollar spot back in October/November and I'm pretty sure these are the best $3 I have ever spent! If I'm feeling a little extra, I'll put a candle in the center of each of them (I actually got that idea from Wendy, one of my followers :)).

The final touch that we made to our cozy and warm space is our light fixture. I think it completes the table setting, and completely opens and brightens up our room. This particular model was OOS, but I found several similar items that resembled this look and at different price points. I definitely think a new light fixture is an easy and affordable way to transform a space and make it fresh and new.

.

I don't usually share home-related blog posts but I decided to change things up for a couple reasons. One, I get asked A LOT on where certain items from my home came from and I figured I would put everything from this space in one spot for people to look to for inspiration. Two, I truly believe that health starts at home. Whether it is the meal you are eating, or the conversations that are being had, that all plays an intricate role in your health, and your family's. That stuff matters.

Thank you for reading along! Let me know how you liked this post and if you'd like more "Home" posts more frequently! Thanks, again, for all of your support.

Blessings and Health,
Chauncey
